
Unity Housing is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Housing Officer with experience in the Disability Housing sector to join our team. As a specialist in SDA and NDIS, you will navigate the complexities of disability housing to ensure that tenants are supported to make informed choices about their housing and their rights as tenants. You will work with tenants, support providers, and sector partners to deliver housing that enhances independence and quality of life.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Team Leader, Specialised Housing, you will:
- Deliver tenancy and property management services including tenancy agreements, rent payments, and property matters, ensuring accessible, sustainable housing in line with SDA, NDIS, and tenancy regulations.
- Champion tenant rights and choice, supporting people to understand and exercise control over their housing decisions.
- Build strong relationships with tenants, support coordinators, and SIL providers to enhance tenant outcomes.
- Ensure SDA and NDIS compliance, working with sector partners to align housing services with best-practice standards.
- Support tenants in shared living arrangements, providing tools and mechanisms to advocate for their preferences.
- Work with support coordinators to explore funding options and property modifications that improve accessibility and quality of housing.
- Contribute to Unity Housing’s disability housing expertise, collaborating with internal teams and sharing insights.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a professional with expertise in SDA, NDIS and disability services. You will have:
- Strong understanding of SDA, NDIS, and disability housing frameworks.
- Experience working with people with disability, particularly in supporting autonomy and self-determination, choice and control.
- The ability to navigate housing, tenancy, and support systems to deliver the best outcomes in a community housing environment.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and networks, particularly with support coordinators, Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers, and tenant advocates.
- A deep understanding of how housing, support, and funding systems intersect, ensuring tenants receive the right support while maintaining control over their housing.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and sector development, contributing to Unity Housing’s disability housing expertise.
- Strong problem-solving with an ability to manage risk and compliance effectively.
