Reconciliation Action Plan

Our Reconciliation Action Plan Innovate

Unity Housing has a long track-record in the provision of safe and affordable homes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenants. We currently house more than 700 people who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander across metropolitan Adelaide and many regional areas of South Australia, which represents around 13% of our tenants.

We are proudly implementing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which has been endorsed by Reconciliation Australia and will run until the end of 2026.

As a community housing provider, we are committed to ensuring that our services are inclusive and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our Innovate RAP, we will work closely with First Nations organisations and communities to create tangible and lasting outcomes for our tenants, staff, and stakeholders.

We are proud to feature this specially commissioned artwork titled ‘Togetherness’, created especially for our Innovate RAP by young Narungga artist Tanaya Antony. The story depicted in the painting is that one singular place can bring community together, helping mob to build strength and resilience in themselves and in each other, through their bonds and connection. It highlights how a collective commitment to togetherness creates a safe and supportive environment where individuals can thrive. This is very much what Unity Housing is about. This is symbolised by the gathering at camping grounds, representing the strength found in coming together.
