Our Community Housing Program consists of approximately 683 long term rental properties located mainly in the metropolitan area, stretching from Willaston in the north to Victor Harbour and Goolwa in the south.
Unity works closely with local support agencies and community groups and many of our properties are purpose built. A large proportion of our tenants receive support in their homes ranging from 24 hour intensive support to a few hours of social support a week. The partnerships we have with non government and government agencies are critical to ensure that tenants are able to actively participate in their local community and successfully manage living in their home.
We have a stable tenant population as we aim to assist people to stay in their Unity Community Housing home as long as they wish. Most people stay for many years and this means that we have very few vacancies in this program each year.
We partner with a variety of support agencies who refer into our housing. They do this by referring people who have been actively working with them for some time and they believe have the capacity to live successfully in our housing. We have a number of properties that are designated for a specific purpose and may be used solely by people working with a nominated organisation.
Unity does not accept applications directly from members of the public for the Community Housing Program.
Unity is involved in a number of partnerships to provide special needs housing, and in particular housing for people with a mental illness.
